What is AP Drawing? Prerequisite(s): Foundations of Art, Art Contract 2D or 2D portfolio. AP Drawing is an advanced, college level drawing and painting course. During your time in this class, you will work in a variety of two-dimensional materials dependent on the sustained investigation of your choice. You will work the entire year to develop an in-depth series from your chosen concept while researching and examining the artistic processes and studio practices of contemporary professional artists. The intention of this course is to help prepare you to pursue art in more advanced studies or potential career. This course culminates in an AP exam. What is expected of you? Refer to the AP Drawing portfolio requirements.
Homework: You will have homework every week in this class. These projects will include drawing, research, reading and writing and will supplement your portfolio as well as enhance your understanding of course concepts. You are expected to spend 5-8 hours a week working on studio assignments outside of class time.
Classroom Policy Restrooms: If you must use the restroom, please do so only when necessary and make sure to return to class in a timely manner. No Food or Drinks: Absolutely NO FOOD. If you need to have a light snack during class, you must exit the room and eat it in the hall. A capped bottle of water is allowed. However, any other beverages could spill and ruin yours or your neighbor’s artwork. Clean Up: Make sure to clean up your area at the end of each class. Clean up will occur between 5-7 minutes before the end of class, depending on the material begin used. Make sure to work through the entirety of class. Early clean-up will result in loss of participation points for that day. Attendance: Be on time. No exceptions. You get one unexcused lateness, which is your only warning. All other unexcused absences count against your participation grade that day. YOU MUST HAVE A PASS IF YOU ARE LATE!

Select works that best exhibit a synthesis of form, technique, and content from your sustained investigation
5 actual works; maximum size is 18" x 24"
The works submitted for evaluation must have been produced during the AP Drawing course.
If you submit work that makes use of photographs, published images, and/or other artists' works, you must show substantial and significant development beyond duplication. This may be demonstrated through manipulation of the formal qualities, design, and/or concept of the original work. It is unethical, constitutes plagiarism, and often violates copyright law to simply copy an image (even in another medium) that was made by someone else.
